How I work
I work from a psychoanalytic perspective. This means that, together, we look for the patterns behind what you feel today or the symptom that brings you in. We ask ourselves what is trying to come out, where it comes from, and why certain situations, emotions or ways of relating seem to repeat.
I don't usually give diagnoses that act as labels and explain nothing. I'm interested in understanding how your personality is put together, because that is often where the key to what keeps repeating lies.
How long does therapy take?
The honest answer is that no one can know at the start, and it would be irresponsible of me to promise you a fixed number of sessions. Think of it like going to the gym or learning a language: how long does it take? It depends on where you start, what you're looking for, and each person's own pace.
What I can tell you is that we review timing together as we go, and the process takes the time it needs. Contrary to what people often think about psychoanalysis, there is a possible ending: it isn't forever, unless you want it to be.
